Prospero Productions seeking experienced Series Producer

The Role:

Prospero Productions is looking for a highly experienced and motivated Series Producer for a new, exciting, and heart-warming observational documentary 8 x 1 hour series. This is a full-time role based in Fremantle, Western Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of factual programming and the ability to craft formatted content.  Previous similar broadcast credits are essential.

 

The Candidate:

Working closely and collaboratively with field directors and story producers, you will be responsible for the overall editorial direction of the series and see production through to network delivery, in accordance with production budget and schedules. You will need experience managing sizeable production teams. You will oversee post-production and will need to have a demonstrated ability to work across multiple edit suites at once – shaping the series, providing direction, feedback and narration scripts.

 

This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders and the Executive Producers, both internally and externally.

 

Duties:

  • Consult with the Production Company, Executive Producers and other key stakeholders;

  • Assist in the selection of locations, principal crew, principal interviewees and cast, sets, and all creative elements for the series;

  • Appraise budgetary and logistic impact of production decisions;

  • Support and supervise field directors and other crew members / production team through all stages of productions;

  • Monitor and review footage being captured in the field;

  • Oversee the management of overall production on a day-to-day basis;

  • Liaise with onscreen contributors;

  • Prepare materials for post-production personnel;

  • Write narration scripts and synopses for each episode;

  • Assist with publicity for the series prior to broadcast;

  • Provide regular progress updates to Executive Producers and stakeholders.

 

Role Requirements:

  • Proven creative success in producing returnable format series content;

  • Highly developed management and motivational skills to lead a production team across all areas of production;

  • Advanced directing skills;

  • Proven track record in developing and managing on screen contributors;

  • Ability to conceive, enhance, refine and deliver entertaining dramatic storylines through pre-production, principal photography and post-production;

  • High-level of editorial skills and judgment;

  • Advanced skills in dealing with budgetary, planning and resource management issues;

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines;

  • Proven experience in dealing directly with broadcasters in relation to editorial;

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or commensurate work experience; and

  • Willingness to relocate to Perth, Western Australia.

 

Salary:

Negotiable subject to the experience of successful candidate offering a 40-week contract commencing in November/December 2022 through to September 2023
