In one of the toughest environments on the planet, a new breed of treasure hunter is on the rise, chasing a fortune in a rapidly expanding global market fuelled by celebrity endorsement and a $4 trillion wellness industry.

In the ancient continent of Australia, crystal hunters are out to grab their piece of the ever-growing crystal pie. But to do so they must enter one of the world’s last great wildernesses – the Outback. Crippling heat, deadly creatures, brutal isolation, and the risk of never returning home, is a constant threat on each and every trip.

Seven mining teams, based far and wide, scour the land in a range of beautiful but brutal environments; from the rugged, remoteness of the north-west Pilbara region, to the frigid beauty of the island of Tasmania, they push their bodies to the limit as they face all the challenges of mining in the Outback, from floods to rock falls, toxic air to unstable abandoned mine shafts. Every hunting season is against the clock; they must complete their mining before the killer summer heat hits. Leave too late and their machinery and their bodies are at risk of breaking down.

The riches they seek are incredibly varied; amethyst, sapphires, smoky quartz, topaz, diamonds, rare crocoite, aqua marine - the beauty is endless. It is this beauty that truly drives the crystal hunters on. Deep within each of them lies a passion for their prey. Nature’s stunning creation of that has formed over millions and millions of years, deep within the Earth’s crust.
